Workshops for parents and carers

CT Training has many years of experience supporting parents and carers based on 30 years of living and working with people with challenging needs.

The workshops are designed to provide practical help and guidance in managing your child in the home environment. The courses will provide links and resources as well as a sympathetic yet objective viewpoint for parents and carers.

The workshops are suitable for parents, extended family members carers, siblings (16 Plus) foster carers.

Workshops can be held in the evenings (2 hours 15 mins) or for whole days including weekends.

There will need to be a minimum of 12 delegates for each workshop.

The costs are £25 per head.

CTT12 - "Children in the alphabet mix" - making sense of it all

More and more children are having more complex and mixed diagnosis. Sometimes this is more confusing and less helpful for parents and carers. This course will give sign posts and direction to understanding the complex nature of spectrum conditions and offer practical ways to help and helpful links and resources to move forward.

CTT13 - Helping the family understand Autism

Fathers, mothers, siblings and grandparents may find understanding the Autistic Spectrum challenging and difficult. This workshop will explain the core characteristics of Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome in ways which are sympathetic to all family members. It will offer help and guidance in understanding and helping  your child.

CTT14 - Positive ways of managing behaviour

Managing our own children's behaviour provides many challenges. This workshop helps to explain the causes of challenging behaviour from ADHD to Oppositional Defiance Disorder and offers strategies and techniques to help manage difficult situations.

It also allows a sharing of issues in a confidential setting and ways to stay sane!

CTT15 - Effective communication with children

Communicating with young people has always been a challenge and in the modern setting of games, DVD’s and wall to wall TV is even more so. This workshop explores ways to develop effective and assertive communication skills as well as a listening ear.
