Understanding Attachment Disorders  

How to provide nurture, understanding and effective intervention

THIS COURSE IS for teachers, support staff, pastoral staff, care staff and foster carers working with children and young people with attachment disorder in special schools and main stream settings.

 

Often children with Attachment Disorders provide the greatest challenges. Attachment issues affect behaviour, teaching and learning, relationship/social skills, and lifelong development. This course offers the opportunity to explore techniques for support and intervention, and discuss and learn about the nature and characteristics of attachment disorders.

   and how they differ from other conditions such as Autism Spectrum

   and oppositional behaviours

 

•  Understanding how attachment issues affect behaviour, teaching  

   and learning, relationship/social skills and lifelong development

 

•  Explore effective management strategies to develop social skills,  

   communication skills and behaviour management

 

•  Demonstrate how nurture and age-appropriate play and recreation

   can help develop relationship skills

 

•  Use case studies for practising planning, support and intervention
